What We Believe

Currently the Assemblies of God USA and Assemblies of God organizations around the world make up the world's largest Pentecostal denomination with some 65 million members and adherents. But numbers fail to tell the real story, and statistics can never meet human needs. People who need help in coming to know God, have problems in their home, or are troubled by any of a multitude of other things that keep people from being happy and fulfilled, need someone who cares. And that's the message of our Fellowship. Because Jesus cares for people, the Assemblies of God are people who care about each other.

Protestant

The Assemblies of God is a Protestant fellowship. As a result of Christ's death and resurrection, we believe each person can have direct fellowship with God through His Son Jesus without any human intermediaries. This provides a personal and meaningful relationship with Him. While we are less formal in our worship to God than many protestant denominations, the Assemblies of God is very similar in faith, with the exception of its Pentecostal doctrine (Hebrews 4:14-16; 6:20; Ephesians 2:18). 

Trinitarian

Like most Christian groups the Assemblies of God believes God exists in three persons -- the Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit. We believe all three are alive and at work today. We also believe this God of three persons is the one and only true God (Matthew 28:9; Luke 3:22; 2 Corinthians 13:13).

Evangelical

The Assemblies of God is notably classified as Evangelical. The church is distinguished as such because it places high priority on the inspiration of Scripture and its mission to win others and bring people into a saving knowledge and relationship with Jesus Christ.

Pentecostal

The most definitive identification of the Assemblies of God is Pentecostal—one where the fullness of the Holy Spirit is welcomed, nurtured, and taught. This includes speaking in tongues as the initial physical evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Other manifestations of the Holy Spirit embraced by the church include- messages in tongues with interpretations, prophecies, word of knowledge, and the complete offering of the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit as indicated in the Bible. Among Pentecostal churches—the Assemblies of God is largest worldwide with over 65 million constituents.

Our Core Doctrines

The doctrine of Salvation forms the core of our Christian faith by proclaiming God’s victory over sin in our lives. This truth results in deliverances, healings and restored lives. Whether a new member or a mature Christian, every believer should have a clear understanding of salvation and the difference this truth makes in our lives and churches.


divine healing


Wherever Jesus went, He ministered with compassion and healed the sick. Christ’s example showed an interconnection with salvation as many believed following their healing.
Our Lord continues to heal today and it is vital that the church preach, teach and practice this biblical truth. Scriptures command believers to pray in faith and trust God for the outcome.


baptism in the holy spirit


The doctrine of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is our distinctive doctrine. This truth explains the passion and power of our witness. Jesus promised His followers they would receive power from on high so that they would be His witnesses. We believe this truth is just as relevant today as our Fellowship continues to take the gospel message around the globe.


The Second Coming


With the world experiencing natural disasters, economic downturns and increasing uncertainties on many fronts, the doctrine of Christ’s Second Coming is more relevant than ever. Believers must rest in the certainty of the imminent return of our Lord and share this hope with others.
